Gentlemen,

24th July, 1914.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of your letter of yesterday's date in which you record,

on behalf of the Un-official Kembers of the Executive and

Legislative Councils, the opinion that it would be in the

best interests of the Colony that on the occurrence of a

vacaney in the Attorney Generalship, Mr. Gompertz, Puisne

Judge, should be appointed Attorney General, and Mr. Korup

Crew Solicitor, should succoed Kr. dompertz as Puiane

Judge.

In accordance with your request I informed

the Secretary of state accordingly by telegraph yesterday

afternoon.

It was unnaessary for me to express my own

views on the subject as the Beerotary of State is supplied

by me annually with reports on officials who are eligible

for prometien.
